Ashraf is the founder of Motei & Associates. He began his career as a Public Prosecutor in Cairo, Egypt in 1990. Two years later, he commenced his private practice as an Associate with Baker & McKenzie - Cairo, Los Angeles and Dallas offices. In 1997, he moved to Dubai to act as in-house Counsel for Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), one of the leading drivers of economic growth in the Middle East and North Africa. Two years later, he was appointed as Regional Counsel by the Swiss multinational, Nestlé S.A. In 2002, Motei & Associates was born.
Ashraf leads the dispute resolution practice at M&A. He advises clients on complex civil, commercial and corporate litigation including contracts disputes, joint ventures, shareholders disputes, business crimes (management misconduct, fraud, theft), construction, professional negligence, agency and employment disputes. Ashraf has over two decades recognized expertise in real estate disputes and has represented buyers in over numerous cases including sale and purchase disputes, delayed handover, discrepancy in saleable area, canceled projects, landlord and tenant disputes.
Ashraf has also a recognized expertise in international arbitration. He has represented clients in numerous arbitration cases under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC-LCIA), and Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). He advises on all aspects of the arbitral process throughout the enforcement procedures of arbitral awards, either local or worldwide. He has also served as arbitrator and co-arbitrator in numerous proceedings institutional and Ad hoc cases.
Remon is a Partner and Head of Litigation at Motei & Associates. In 2007, he began his was a lawyer at a well-renowned law firm in Cairo, Egypt. In 2016 he moved to Dubai to act as an Associate with Motei & Associates.
Remon has more than 15 years of extensive experience in civil, commercial, corporate, and criminal litigation in Egypt and the UAE. He represented clients in diverse complex civil and commercial cases in Egypt/UAE. He was appointed as legal counsel of the Cairo Pharmacists Syndicate to represent to the Syndicate in one the landmark cases in Egypt. He successfully handled numerous corporate and commercial litigation for large companies in Egypt. He has also represented clients in various arbitration cases before the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). In Dubai, he has developed unique on-ground experience and expertise to handle employment, real estate, shareholders, investors, personal injuries, defamation and family matters. He represented numerous clients in enforcement of arbitral awards.
Neil is the founder of Judicare Law International, a leading international property law firm providing clients with specialist global legal advice related to investments in property and land overseas, for whom, Motei & Associates is acting as an overseas property law firm in the UAE. Neil founded Judicare in 2009 in London, UK, after being frustrated with less than satisfactory legal advice when he himself purchased property abroad. His direct and considered approach has helped build the firm today into being widely recognized as a trusted and specialist international team of lawyers.
In addition to assisting clients recover their money when things regrettably go wrong, Judicare also helps clients by providing advice on how to go about things in the right manner to begin with. Presently Judicare handles cases throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Outside the legal field, Neil is a former professional sportsman, having previously played football for a number of British clubs including Arsenal, Manchester City and Southampton in a career spanning over a decade. With his background, Neil is the go-to contact for many current and past elite sports people when it comes to legal affairs and issues abroad.
Maëva commenced her career in France in a boutique business law firm during the first internet bubble in the 2000s, assisting private equity funds for the due-diligence processes and investment deals (with investment amount up to 80 million euros). Her practice became more international after moving to London in 2005. Since 2011 in Hong Kong she has built a solid network of local and international correspondents to address the needs of her corporate clients and complement the services of Slotine Law Firm.
Maëva is of Counsel at M&A, with a special focus on cross-border business law, namely Corporate (M&A, Private Equity and Corporate Governance) and Commercial (Commercial Agreements, Employment & Tax and Commercial Disputes). Her clients are entrepreneurs who have grown businesses ranging from small to medium in size in various sectors (including sourcing, retail, food & beverage and medical devices). She established in her own office in Hong Kong (Slotine Law Firm),she assists in setting up businesses in Asia-Pacific from Hong Kong.
Hiba is an Associate at M&A, with a strong focus on corporate and commercial matters. She works closely with a wide range of clients in corporate restructuring, and commercial transactions, as well shareholder relations, corporate governance and compliance and general commercial advisory. Hiba has in-house experience with multi-national organizations as well as private practice within the UAE.
Hiba’s experience covers contract negotiation and drafting of a wide range of commercial agreements such as shareholder agreements, share purchase agreements, asset purchase, joint venture, due diligence and legal viability reports, employment agreements and other general commercial agreements. She has also worked closely with the litigation team on dispute resolution relating to the above. Hiba has supported M&A in complex Arbitration cases.
Nada has a passion for people, languages and arts. She is well-traveled and confidently trilingual. Nikitha is a trainee lawyer at M&A with legal and compliance work experience at several law firms in India and the UAE, including DIFC companies. Having been president of her University Law Society for 5 years and editor of the Amity law journal for 2 years, Nikitha possesses ample legal acumen as she starts out her career in law. Outside the legal field, Nikitha is an avid reader and writer, having written, directed, and acted in her own legal theatre production with a cast and crew of 30 people.
Nikitha handles the corporate department at M&A. She counsels clients on company formation in the UAE, corporate structure amendments and assists in litigation and arbitration matters pertaining to contractual disputes.
Natasha has over 7 years of post qualification of legal work experience. She commenced her career in India as a Judicial Clerk with a Judge of the Delhi High Court in India, 2014 to 2016. She later on joined as Senior Associate inthe Commercial and Disputes Team of India’s Premier Law Firm – Luthra and Luthra Law Offices (L&L Partners), New Delhi 2016-2018, where she succeeded in a construction arbitration dispute for USD 35 million. To strengthen her skill-set and enhance her knowledge she went on to pursue LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London in International Commercial Dispute Resolution from 2018-2019.
During her time in London, she briefly worked with London’s Magic Circle Law firm namely, Stephenson and Harwood LLP, in the International Commercial and Disputes Team. She resumed her legal services with a Senior Counsel in India as an Independent Counsel in fields of Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Commercial Contracts, Corporate Disputes and Civil Litigation in 2020.
Thereafter, she was associated with an Indian Boutique firm as a Senior Associate, and worked in the Commercial Disputes and Corporate Team, where she advised several multinational and domestic clients, to check legal compliances required for manufacturing, export and import of articles in India during 2021. Therefore, she has particular understanding of international correspondents to address the needs of her corporate clients and complement the services of Motei & Associates.
Natasha is an Associate Counsel at M&A, with a special expertise in Corporate-Commercial and Dispute Resolution.
Arslan is Senior Accountant at Motei & Associates. He began his professional career at Ernst & Young (Big Four) Audit firm as Financial Analyst in Transaction Advisory Services (“TAS”) department and later moved to Assurance department as Senior External Auditor. After completing three years as Financial Analyst and Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young he moved to Dubai and joined a renowned group of companies operating in different economic sectors as Senior Accountant. He is now working as Senior Accountant at Motei & Associates.
Arslan has more than 7 years of diversified experience in carrying out a wide range of responsibilities including Auditing, Financial Accounting, Receivable & Payable management, Cashflows management, Accounting Software implementation, Point of Sales(“POS”) implementation, Inventory Module Handling, Merchant Solution management, costing, budgeting, and Financial Analysis. He excels in challenging environments and have a reputation for solving problems and finding new efficient ways to increase production. His other expertise includes internal audit, special assignments in Public and Private Sector in banking and insurance sector, conducting market and financial feasibility studies, projection reports and proposals along with handling corporate affairs.
Samantha is the Admin and Clients Coordinator of Motei & Associates. She started her career in the United Arab Emirates in 2020 and worked for an events and advertising company for the past two years as a Customer Service Representative/Admin before joining Motei & Associates. She has also worked as a Data Analyst/Admin Assistant for 6 years in a well-known BPO company inthe Philippines.
