The Ministry of Interior (MOI) recently launched a platform that will help police departments across the world to compare their performances and share best practices.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) recently launched a platform that will help police departments across the world to compare their performances and share best practices. This new website shall be collecting performance indicators and statistics from global police authorities.  The link to the website is www.policeindicators.com.

The available statistics are about crime rates, road accidents, safety and security, emergency response time, happiness percentage, public confidence, etc. Hence, this would help in analyzing best practices and will serve as a reference to help police departments all over the world.

Technology and innovation are considered to be closely linked to the security sector and how security sector will be managed in the near future. During the launch of this platform, topics such as whether artificial intelligence can be used as forensic evidence as well as how cybercrimes can be investigated were discussed. Prominent speakers from USA and Canada discussed how their countries are using technology for investigations.  In Canada, for instance, projects have been undertaken to protect children from online threats.
